Today we have another video from our #Scunthorpe Concast (Continuous Casting) plant. This shows the beginning of the process and we can see the crane lifting the ladle from BOS Plant and placing it on the Slab Caster ladle car. The ladle will hold 300 tonnes of molten steel so including the weight of the ladle the crane is lifting an impressive 450 tonnes. Once the ladle is in place on the ladle car, it moves on tracks into position over the tundish so the steel can be teemed – ladle to tundish
