People keep asking why Suboxone exists and why it took over the market. Here’s the truth no one likes to say out loud. When the original patent for buprenorphine (Subutex) ran out, Big Pharma needed a way to keep the cash flowing. So they did what’s called evergreening. You tweak the formula just enough to call it “new,” slap a new patent on it, and then sell the story that it’s safer and therefore should be prescribed over the cheaper generics. They added naloxone. Not because people needed it.
